I recentely read an article about home security cameras and a break-in in Palm Bay.

These burglars picked the wrong house. Two teenagers clearly had no idea they were being recorded as one stuffed videogames into a pillow case. A third teen acted as lookout by the slider door they used to gain access to the home. It’s believed the same group broke in there ten days before. After the first break in, the owner looked into home security systems and bought a video surveillance system that’s triggered by motion.
The system is connected to the home computer and at the office. It notified the owner that morning that movement was detected in his living room.

 Water Will Not Help

Once you have purchased your self defense pepper spray, some suggest practicing with it. This way if you are faced with the situation of having to use it, you will be prepared. Aim the pepper spray away from your face and arms, and NOT into the wind! Practice aiming so that if need be, you will know how to aim at the attacker’s face. Remember that if you need to use it, try to aim quick and back away so that the spray doesn’t hit you. If you do get some on you it may burn. Water will not help, so use milk or sour cream to help ease the sensation. If you get pepper spray in your eyes, blink as much as possible. The effects should ease 30 to 40 minutes afterwards, depending on how much you came in contact with.

You Can Quickly Flee

When self defense pepper spray is used on an attacker, it inflames mucous membranes such as the person’s nose, eyes, throat and lungs. This causes the attacker to instantly close their eyes and they could temporarily loose their sight. They also may encounter breathing problems from the pepper spray being so pungent. These effects can last 30 to 40 minutes or even longer depending on the strength of the pepper spray. This is the best self-defense weapon because once the attacker is incapacitated, you can quickly flee. You do not have to worry about causing permanent damage to someone. The effects are temporary.
