Reported Babysitter Offenses
Children under age 6, the group most likely to be cared for by babysitters, are also those most likely to be victimized by them. Children in this age group made up 60 percent of the victims of babysitter crimes in the NIBRS jurisdictions, although youth 12 and older were sometimes victimized.
Among babysitter offenses that were reported to the police, sex offenses outnumbered physical assaults 65 percent to 34 percent. Simple assaults made up 25 percent of all reported babysitter offenses, whereas aggravated assaults accounted for 9 percent.
The age distribution of victims in NIBRS reports varies, depending on the type of offense. Children ages 1 to 3 faced the greatest risk of physical assault, whereas children ages 3 to 5 were most vulnerable to sex offenses. Victim gender also varied by type of offense. More boys than girls were victims of physical assault by babysitters, whereas girls made up 65 percent of the sex offense victims.
The reality of today is that most children will be cared for by babysitters. Many parents get piece of mind by setting up and using a hidden security camera in their home. They are affordable and easy to install especially the many wireless models available today. You have the right to know what is happening it your home while you are away.
Safety Rules for Auto/Travel
The nature of violent crime is the loss of life, or the maiming and/or destruction of a life to such a degree that the victim seldom, if ever, recovers fully from the incident.
Sound scary? Well it is. Violent crime is a reality and a little education and preparation can change the odds in your favor.
1. Keep your car in good repair. Perform the recommended maintenance schedule. You don’t want to be in a position of being alone in a disabled vehicle.
2. This is an important time to carry a cell phone. It can literally save your life in an emergency.
3. If you are traveling overnight, make sure you leave an itinerary with family or friends. Include your expected route, times, and choice of hotel/motel.
4. Plan your trip carefully. Use and carry a map or internet map plan or GPS device and familiarize yourself with the route beforehand.
5. Carry an emergency auto kit including flashlight, flares, first aid kit, jumpers, etc. If you do not know how to change a tire, why not learn? It’s not difficult and it can get you going quickly if you have a blowout.
6. Personal self defense items such as pepper sprays or affordable stun guns can help even the odds against a strong assailant. Keep these in your glove compartment. Prepare now, be safe later.

Safety Rules In Your Neighborhood
A robber or sexual predator is looking for a vulnerable person who is walking alone and isolated, day or night. Beyond this, most attackers do not plan their assault in any detail. They wish to do the deed, get what they want, and get away quickly undetected. You can reduce your risk of injury or trauma by observing some common sense rules.
1. Be aware of your surroundings. Play “what if…?” How close is a populated area where you can feel safe? How close is a telephone? Public telephones are becoming less available so carry a fully charged cell phone. You should have your local police number on a quick dial. Dialing 911 does not work on some cell phone networks, but try it first.
2. Carry a self defense device. There is a wide variety of pepper sprays and affordable stun guns or even a personal alarm. Know the product you have and how to use it. Read the manufacturer’s instructions.
3. Trust your instincts. Research shows that crime victims were aware that “something was wrong” just before an attack.
4. Over half of all assaults are committed by someone known to the victim. Take notice if an acquaintance is paying unwanted attention to you.
5. Don’t wear headphones in higher risk areas. You must be aware of your surroundings.
6.If you’d like to walk or jog but are afraid, check out Hot Walkers brand pepper spray. They look like ordinary walking weights but actually hold canisters of pepper spray.
Talk to your teen age children, brothers, sisters, and friends. Education can be a powerful tool in self protection. Share these rules with those you love.

Affordable Stun Guns
STUN GUNS use high voltage and low amperage to temporarily disable an attacker for several minutes. The stun gun does not rely on pain for results. The energy stored in the gun is dumped into the attacker’s muscles causing them to do a great deal of work rapidly. This rapid work cycle instantly depletes the attacker’s blood sugar by converting it to lactic acid. In short, he is unable to produce energy for his muscles, and his body is unable to function properly. The stun gun also interrupts the tiny neurological impulses that control and direct voluntary muscle movement. When the attacker’s neuromuscular system is overwhelmed and controlled by the stun gun he loses his balance. Should the attacker be touching you, the current will NOT pass to your body. There are many affordable stun guns such as mini stun guns andd stun guns that look like cell phones. Before you order a stun gun, please make sure they are legal where you live.
Drop Him To The Ground!
Scenario 1: What if you’ve worked past dark and are going to your car in the parking lot. Chances are it will be poorly lit. Robbers and muggers know these places and just wait for someone trying to find their car, or their keys. What do you do when he approaches you and demands your money? Hopefully you’ll just give it to him and he’ll go away. But what if he doesn’t?
Scenario 2: What if that same potential robber approaches you and demands your money and you squirt a stream of Pepper Spray into his face. Or, if he gets too close, you shock him with a Stun Gun which will drop him to the ground giving you time to get away and call 911.
You can’t always predict exactly how things will happen. That’s why you should be ready for anything and have multiple self defense devices stored in different places. There are affordable stun guns for your purse or pocket. Also pepper spray in the glove box and on your key chain. If you are even more serious check out a taser. Also personal alarms can be very effective. Take steps now to be safe and feel secure.
Stun Gun for Self Defense
There are many self defense devices on the market today accessible to almost anyone. There are tasers, pepper spray, personal alarms, kubatons, even affordable stun guns. Depending on where you live, you need to know that not every state allows you the right to carry a stun gun for self defense. Stun guns are restricted in: Hawaii, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, and Wisconsin, with restrictions in certain cities. If you are caught with a stun gun, you may have to pay a fine. Please make sure your state or country allows you to possess one legally before you purchase one.
Ordinary Citizens
Protect Themselves
Many people have seen stun guns in movies and television shows, where the actor uses it to fight off their enemies. In real life, they are not only carried by police officers, but also ordinary citizens to protect themselves from personal attacks. These devices might look somewhat dangerous, but when used, they only temporarily incapacitate the person without causing any long term damage. The stun gun victim will be out of energy and weak and will allow you time to flee. There are many different affordable stun guns available as well as other self defense devices like pepper spray and personal alarms.
24/7 Protection
The bad guys use the tactic of surprise as a key part of their evil plan. Seldom does an attacker give advance warning of his intentions to assault you. Like the slime they are, rapists or any kind of assailant use darkness, isolation and surprise to their advantage. With surprise they can quickly gain the upper hand in any struggle making you the loser.
Now you can level the playing field and turn the tables on the bad guys by using the element of surprise to your advantage. How? By using disguised self defense pepper spray.
Here are a few suggestions.
PEPPER PENS. The pen with a punch. Take off the top and spray away.
PEPPER PAGER. Carry it right on your belt. Looks just like a pager. Ultra easy access.
STUNNING RING. Wear it everyday for 24/7 protection.
LIPSTICK PEPPER SPRAY. Perfect for purses.
PEPPER BATONS. The perfect answer for just about any situation. Hooks right onto your keychain.
HOT WALKERS. Pepper spray inside hand weights that runners and walkers use to get the heart rate going while exercising. Great outdoor protection for that morning walk or run.
Remember the purpose of all self defense products including pepper sprays is to give you the time to escape a dangerous situation. Another thing to remember is to react quickly. A few seconds can make all the difference. Don’t be scared. Just be prepared.

Works Like a Charm
Chillin, hangin-out, or a night out-on-the-town with the girls, whatever you want to call it, have fun but always put your personal safety first. There is nothing like an evening of fun and laughter with an awesome group friends. And by observing just a few simple safety rules you can enjoy an evening out and still make sure everyone arrives home safe and sound.
1. Who’s your buddy? The “buddy system” was an excellent safety technique when you were seven years old and it still works like a charm at twenty plus a few years. Make a pact with your friends to; go out as a group of 5 and to go home as a group of 5. This group decision cam eliminate a serious amount of drama throughout the night.
2.Listen to your intuition. If you feel uncomfortable with any person, place or social setting, share these concerns with your friends. Likewise, if a friend comes to you with her own, gut instinct warning, trust her intuition as well. Sounds like it’s time to grab your friends hit the road and continue your party elsewhere.
3.Don’t go anywhere with out your personal protection products and plan. Self defense pepper spray and stun guns are very effective and affordable. There are many models that are compact enough for a small purse or even a pocket. And of course you always have a back-up in the glove box. A little planning now could save alot of pain later. Have some extras on hand. They make great gifts for all your girl friends.
Don’t Forget The Animals
When evaluating your needs for your personal protection plan, don’t forget that animals can also be a threat to you. If you go outdoors often and know of an aggressive dog that escapes their yard, why take the chance of running into the dog without being prepared? Self defense pepper spray will make the dog stop the attack as soon as it is sprayed. It will affect the dog’s eyes, nose, and mouth without harming it. Canines are not the only animal that can cause problems. If you go camping you may be closer to bears than you know. Be prepared in case you encounter a bear and it charges at you. Self defense pepper spray will irritate the bear’s eyes, nose, and mouth. This spray is humane, with the symptoms wearing off after at least an hour.
