 Plan your trip carefully

If you are going by car, make sure your vehicle has been properly serviced and is in good driving condition.
Try to have specific directions and know the routes to your destination.
If you get lost, call for directions or assistance.
Always keep your car windows and doors  locked.
If you have to stop your car at stoplights and other traffic delays, leave enough space in front of your vehicle so that you have an escape option in case of an emergency.
Let a family member or a friend know the route you intend to travel and an itinerary. This will help authorities locate you if there is a need to do so.
Plan your trip carefully and allow for weather, fatigue, facilities for lodging, food and fuel. Be sure you have sufficient funds, either cash, traveler’s checks or credit cards.
Ask the hotel about their security measures so you know what to expect.
Use the hotel safe to store your valuables during your stay.
Always carry self defense products such as pepper spray, a stun gun, or personal alarms.
If you don’t have any, make sure *buy stun gun, or *buy pepper spray is on your pre-trip shopping list.

“ Never saw it coming!”

Carjackers, like street robbers, prefer the element of surprise.  Most victims say they never saw the carjacker until they appeared at their car door. There are steps to take to reduce your risk of being carjacked.

*Always park in well-lighted areas.
*Ask security for an escort if you are alone at a shopping center.
* Watch out for anyone loitering in the area (handing out flyers, etc)
*If someone tries to approach you, change direction or run to a busy store.
*Teach and practice with your kids to enter and exit the car quickly.
* If you are ever confronted by an armed carjacker don’t resist.
*Give up your keys or money if demanded without resistance.
*Don’t argue, fight or chase the robber.   You can be seriously injured.

* Call the police immediately to report the crime and provide detailed information.
Make sure you keep a non lethal, self defense product in your glove box or in your purse or in your pocket. Such self defense products include pepper spray, a stun gun, or a personal alarm. You can buy pepper spray today and have a safer tomorrow.

 A Small Step Today

Even though you are rushing and thinking about a thousand things, Be aware of your surroundings and the people around you. If possible, park your car in an area of high pedestrian activity. Avoid remote areas.
Lock your car and close the windows, even if you are only gone for a few minutes.
Loose change is a meal for a street person; they will break the window even for small change left in sight.
Your cell phone can be sold and reprogrammed and is a sought after item of theft.
A laptop computer will keep a drug user high, at your expense.
Place your valuables in the trunk before you get to your destination, not after, the thief may be watching you.
Be sure and lock your car, many opportunists simply look for unlocked cars.
If waiting for a ride from a friend or public transportation, do so in busy, well-lit places.
Always report a theft to the police.

Buy pepper spray, a stun gun or a personal alarm to keep in your purse, glove box, or even your pocket.
Your personal security is ultimately up to you. A small step today can keep you safe later.

 Only Take What You Need

It seems we all  carry alot of our personal possessions around with us these days. Cash , checkbooks, credit cards, personal organizers and mobile phones are just some of the everyday items that are sorely missed if they are lost or stolen. All of these things might seem invaluable, but according to the police the best advice for hanging on to your possessions is “only take what you need with you”.

Try to appear relaxed, but at the same time be aware of your surroundings. Pickpockets like busy streets and crowded places, and someone bumping into you could well be a thief. If this happens, check if you still have your things with you, but don’t make it too obvious that you’re doing this a thief might be watching and you are letting them know where all of your things are.

Also very important is to always carry your self defense device. Pepper spray, stun guns and personal alarms are all easy to use and safe.

This was an email sent to me:

Just last weekend on Friday night we parked in a public parking area. As we drove away I noticed a sticker on the rear window of the car. When I took it off after I got home, it was a receipt for gas. Luckily my friend had told me not to stop as it could be someone waiting for me to get out of the car. Then we received this email yesterday:

.
‘WARNING FROM POLICE

BEWARE OF PAPER ON THE BACK WINDOW OF YOUR VEHICLE–NEW WAY TO DO CARJACKINGS (NOT A JOKE)’

Heads up everyone! Please, keep this circulating… You walk across the parking lot, unlock your car and get inside. You start the engine and shift into Reverse. When you look into the rearview mirror to back out of your parking space, you notice a piece of paper stuck to the middle of the rear window. So, you shift into Park, unlock your doors, and jump out of your car to remove that paper (or whatever it is) that is obstructing your view. When you reach the back of your car, that is when the car jackers appear out of nowhere, jump into your car and take off. They practically mow you down as they speed off in your car.

And guess what, ladies? I bet your purse is still in the car. So now the carjacker has your car, your home address, your money, and your keys. Your home and your whole identity are now compromised!

BEWARE OF THIS NEW SCHEME THAT IS NOW BEING USED.

Also always have your personal security self defense products at hand, at home, on you, and in your car. Stun guns, self defense pepper spray, and personal alarms are all safe and affordable options.

Thieves are always on the lookout for easy targets. Don’t make yourself and your boat easy targets. Here are some simple steps to follow.

Never leave anything valuable on display, however small and insignificant it may seem.
Don’t leave anything loose on deck or in the cockpit .
Always take your ingine key with you, don’t leave it in the ignition.
Keep your boat keys and engine keys separate.
Keep your boat locked when no one is on board, even for a short time.
Use strong locks on all your hatches, and entry points.
It’s a good idea to have an alarm and use window stickers to say that you have one.
Make sure your cockpit lockers are locked, and check that your main hatch and fore-hatch are secure.
If you don’t think something is secure, get it fixed.
Always carry self defense products such as self defense pepper spray, a stun gun, personal alarms or a Taser.
Take steps today to improve your safety and security.

Personal Alarm Security Device

Personal alarms are in some ways similar to home alarms, except they’re small and easy to carry. These devices’ features vary by model, but can incorporate a high-decibel alarm and a flashing light. They are usually activated by either pulling a pin or pushing a button and are effective for personal security and self defense because they draw the attention of passersby, and hopefully cause the criminal to run.

Pepper Spray for Personal Security Device

One primary way of defending yourself against attack is pepper spray. Pepper spray is a self defense product that is made from what are, essentially, chili peppers. The pepper is suspended in fluid and then aerosolized into a spray. You can buy pepper spray in small, easy-to-carry containers that can easily be put on a keychain or tucked into a handbag for a convenient personal security device. Some states in the U.S. have restrictions regarding the legality of pepper spray for self defense, either in terms of who is authorized to buy it or the strength of the pepper spray, so you should check your state’s laws before you purchase.

Charity Fraud

Charity fraud can do a lot of harm. The con artist takes advantage of people’s good will and takes their cash - meant for people in need. You can make sure that any money you give gets into the right hands. Just remember these tips when somebody asks you for a donation.

*Ask for identification - the organization AND the solicitor. Find out what the purpose of the charity is and how *funds are used.
*Ask if contributions are tax deductible. Can they give you a reciept?
*If you’re not satisfied with the answers-don’t give.
*Give to charities that you know.
*Be suspicious of charities that only accept cash.
*Always send a check made out to the charity and not the individual requesting the donation.
* Don’t fall for high-pressure tactics. If solicitors won’t take no for an answer, tell them NO anyway -BUT DON’T GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY.
*Always have your self defense device in your hand when opening the door to a stranger. If you don’t have one mabey you shouldn’t open the door.
*Plan for your safety and the safety of your loved ones. There are safe and affordable options like pepper spray, personal alarms, tasers, and stun guns for sale.
